Events

Whenever a player either creates Permanents, draws cards or cycles them during his or her own Main Phase, the players must draw one card from the Events deck and put it into play. This card will have a variety of effects and are meant to represent the effect luck and chance have in the real world of business. There is generally no rule to what Events may be like, they may be perfectly normal (eg stock market downturns) or be downright silly, such as alien invasions or a zombie apocalypse!

For more information on the cards involved, see Historical Events and Short-Term Events.

Main Board

Main board cards are drawable and playable by players. Unplayed cards can sometimes be sold to other players for any amount of Production Factors, or played. Playing a Main Board card normally consumes Production Factors.

  • Investments are Permanents which represent the variety of assets, companies, and other investment vehicles a player can engage in. Investments normally bring in profits in the form of Production Factors, and they themselves also require Production Factors in order to be played. These cards can be revealed in your hand to be sold to other players, but you may only sell cards once per turn.
  • Ancillaries are a special bunch of Permanents whose special ability is being playable at any point in the game; yet if they are played at any time other than your Main Phase, the ancillary is discarded/destroyed/consumed at the end of the turn. Auxiliary cards may be sold to other players during your main phase, as long as you have not played them.
  • Actions are non-Permanent cards which function in a way similar to Short-Term Events - once they are played, they are lost at the end of the turn they were played in. An Action may sometimes be played in response to another card being played, so long as it is legitimately stated on the Action card as such.
  • Employees are a special class of Permanents that can be deployed to do a variety of things. They can be assigned to Assets and permanent Auxiliaries; they can also be sent to affect Historical Event cards, perhaps lessening their effect on the game. Employee cards may not be sold to another player; you may only either choose to play them or discard them.
