What else do we know about this mod?

  • Religious policies are back, with six religions to choose from: Judaism, Manichaeanism, Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Avesta and Buddhism.
  • Your religious policies will provide minor buffs, as well as possibly open up access to new wonders and units. Example:
    • Generic: Buddhist and Avestan shrines cannot be converted.
    • Manichaeanist buildings are destroyed the moment they are captured.
    • Catholicism: Basilica, a Temple that generates Wealth
    • Judaism: Beth Knesset haGadol, has the ability to regenerate nearby units possibly?
    • Avesta: ATroshan has an extensive line of sight.
    • Orthodoxy:
    • Budhism: Stupa, Sangha. The Stupa provides a small knowledge boost.
    • Priests: Catholic priest can cloak when not moving, Orthodox priest is cheaper, Jewish priest has greater speed, Avesta priest boosts attack of nearby units,

Design notes

Say we want to retain this as a RoN mod -- and not a standalone.

What buildsets do we use?

  • West Roman: Civc Center is based on K&C civic center for Rome, but all buildings look pretty....dumpy and broken, like 0-tileset for Euro factions from vanilla RoN. Whitewashed but timbered.
  • East Roman: Cleaner, neater and smarter.Think Diocletian's palace and lots of tent domes.
  • Gallo-Roman: Maybe darken the thatch. A good example is the Balkan tileset for Age of Darkness.Used for Gallic Empire. Civic Center could be a Praetorium.
  • Persian: This one is a big problem. Maybe use the PErsian tileset we developed for Uthum way back......
  • Afro-Arab: mud huts, mud bricks, but a lot of "wong" carving. Probably also used for Indian factions like Kushansas and Kucha.......despite being Turkic
  • Germanic: for semi-sedentary factions like the Saxons and Suebi I guess. Try the slavic wooden buildings from Rise of Kings.
  • Sarmatian: Sarmatian as in Kings & Conquerors. What more could you ask for?

Wonders

(these should be a scenario-only thing.)

  • Necropolis - Mausoleum of Helena, Ravenna church, etc.
  • Balshamin Temple
  • Mahram Bilqis
  • Amphitheater
  • Baths Complex
  • Baalbek Pantheon
  • Palace Complex
  • Great Forum
  • Circus Complex (Circus Maximus in stone)
  • Epic Stela
  • Bam Citadel

() Religious monuments:

  • Cathedral (Aquileia Basilica) - one basilica hall, flanked by two vestibules .
  • Ekklesia: Another Christian site (based off Damascus mosque) - one single prayer hall, with a main hall with a pyramind dome.
  • Stupa Field - Borobodur duh
  • Buddhist Grotto Complex
  • Naqsh-e-Rostam
  • Bema Sanctuary - a Chinese temple redone in whatever style we choose. Usually, Sassanian?
